Aqua'aba foundation celebrated its 2nd anniversary with a visit to the Osu Castle

Osu castle was built in the 17th century by the Danish and was used by different colonial power as a post for transatlantic slave trade. Later, Osu castle played an important role for Ghana's push for independence from the British. It serves as a space for reflection on the past and the progress made since those times.

The kids enjoyed the visit to the castle; they learnt a lot about Ghana's past, also thanks to an incredible guide, who brought the rich history of the site to life. The visit was followed by a home-cooked meal for all of them.

Specifically, these museums illuminate Ghana's journey to independence from Great Britain.

The overarching goal of this memorial is to enlighten and motivate visitors by propagating Nkrumah's cherished ideals of unity, self-determination, and societal advancement. Through its exhibitions and historical narratives, the memorial serves as an educational beacon, aiming to inspire individuals about Nkrumah's enduring legacy and his vision for a unified, self-reliant, and socially progressive Ghana.

Aqua'aba foundation shared nutritious Banku and Fish cooked by Lydia with the children. The kids were excited and grateful!

This shared meal not only provided nourishment but also became a cherished moment, fostering a sense of community and warmth within the Aqua'aba family.

For all non-Ghanaians: Banku is a traditional Ghanaian dish that is a staple in the Ghanaian diet. It's made from fermented corn and cassava dough. The dough mixture is combined and then cooked to form a smooth, whitish, slightly elastic paste. It's commonly served alongside soups, stews, or sauces, such as okra soup, groundnut soup, fish or meat stew.
